My friend Travis Marvin hooked me up with VIP entrance to his concert with Tracy Lawrence. He's just a great guy and so incredibly generous to help us out like that. See, I have to travel every week on Mondays to NYC and come back very late on Thursdays so I wasn't going to be able to go get tickets for his show. But leave it to Travis to offer to help out by putting Nathan and I on his guest list. It really made my day!
Now...about the concert....how awesome was it? It was fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with my husband at it. It was my fifth Travis Marvin concert since last May. We also saw Tim, an old high school friend, there as well. Although my camera doesn't take the greatest pictures, I'm sure you can see how much fun we had!

If you don't know who Travis Marvin is, he's an up an coming AWESOME country artist who I had the privilege of going to high school with. Check out his youtube link below. Check him out and go enjoy one of his many shows sometime! You'll absolutely love it!
And my newest favorite of Travis's collection - Time of our Lies. Enjoy.

Having to travel every Monday through midnight on Thursdays every week, has really got me down lately and missing my family. Late at night I look through pictures to reminisce about my life back with my family. Sappy, I know. But it's true. I miss my son growing up and changing every day and missing my husband's loving kisses and helpfulness with daily family duties. He is such a wonderful father, so I have no doubt in my mind that Tristan isn't getting what he needs while I'm gone. That will never cross my mind at all. But I do wonder how much not having his mommy around like normal will impact him. I know children are resilient, but it still doesn't make it any easier while I'm gone for the next four months. I know it's a sacrifice - a temporary one - and that is the only reason I accepted the job - and I keep reminding myself of that.
Blah, blah, blah....running off on a tangent....my point of this post was to talk about how there are some fun winter pictures that have been housed up in my hard drive and need to be exposed for the world to see how much fun my little Tristan has had so far this winter. This doesn't encompass everything we have done together, but enough that he will have memories to later be able to reflect on. I miss my little man. Nine more hours and I'll be home safely in my own bed. Enjoy the pictures!

What a wonderful time last weekend for nine women to get together (in our pajamas, no makeup, and pony tails) and share some homemade comfort food consisting of quiche, muffins, bagels with cream cheese, biscuits and gravy, bacon, ghetto mimosas, and bloody mary's.
Highlights of the brunch:
The peach brandy made the ghetto mimosas "special" - Aletra blames the liquor store attendant for giving her the wrong peach liquor...she asked for schnappes. That's S.C.H.N.A.P.P.E.S. ~ not ~ B.R.A.N.D.Y. :)
Dependable Brooke stayed for about an hour before leaving to attend a "meeting". She did manage to teach us all something cool about cooking bacon - and cooked it for us before she left...and made quiche with okra. So cool.
Misty brought some yummy muffins ~ which I didn't end up trying ~ but heard all about them!
Kari forgot that no one delivers pizza in Baldwin and had to make an emergency call to her mother to bring her babysitter and son some lunch. :)
Crystal over slept and made her grand appearance at just about the time we were all putting things together to leave. She's a doll to make the effort even when she rushed from over sleeping!
Courtney enchanted us all with her funny stories, as usual, and will never forget how to spell pneumonia. (Btw, I didn't spell it correctly and had to spell check it!)
Stephanie was her normal goofy self as she helped hold Eli for Brooke and also brought her homemade Panera bagels and cream cheese for us all to enjoy. :)
Dusti made a point to explain to us her point of view on guns in the house hold, how much fun the shooting range is, and the exciting painting event she has planned for us in March! I can't wait to write about this event!
...and loud boisterous Sarah! How we all love her laughter and fun demeanor. (I'm cracking up as I write this....)
"County? Really? I mean, I don't know about you all, but Courtney, County is kind of a big deal!"
Oh. And me? I am just forever grateful to have beautiful, fun, supportive, and inspiring friends who love to spend time with me ~ just girls, just honest communication, just fun, just once a month. Love you girls!

Every year, one of my favorite holiday traditions is seeing the Nutcracker Ballet with my husband. This year we wondered if Tristan would enjoy the lights, colors, and music that Tchaikovsky dreamed of when he wrote these beautiful songs in his native country of Russia. We invited Bailey this year because we knew how much she loves Princesses and thought she would enjoy this as much as we thought Tristan would. We were testing our luck with a 7:30pm performance as Tristan is 99.9% of the time on a set schedule with his nap and bedtime routine. But we thought we'd give it a shot and see what happens..... After a dinner of soup and sandwiches at Panera, this dressed up crew headed to Kansas City for a ballet that would amaze and awe us all.
The elaborate costumes, mice who fought with swords, and beautiful ballerinas prancing on their tip toes enchanted both Tristan and Bailey. Tristan kept saying "What's going to happen?" every time the music got louder or stronger due to the actions on stage. Bailey was mesmerized the entire time and wouldn't take her eyes off of the stage. At intermission, Tristan was as squirrley as could be and so we decided to go ahead and head home without seeing the second half. We know our limits, so we made the best decision and left. Bailey said, "That was really good, but shorter than I thought!". By the time we drove out of the parking garage, both kiddos were fast and soundly asleep. Next year we may have to try the afternoon show instead.
